My Background
This is my tenth year teaching and my first year teaching at Cushing Elementary. I taught at Jenkins Elementary for the past nine years, mainly in fourth grade but moved to first fifth then sixth grade with a large group of students.
I hold a Master of Education degree, Grades 1-6, from Curry College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Bridgewater State College. In addition, I have an Associate of Science degree in the Business Assistant program, from Fisher Jr. College.
I moved to Scituate many years ago, when I was entering the sixth grade at Central School. I am a proud graduate of Scituate High School.
Many students are familiar with my high school yearbook quote, "Two orange elephants on the beach at sunset," which represents my favorite things.
Another favorite saying of mine is, "The more you read, the better you get at . . . EVERYTHING!" I truly believe this. Even if reading isn't your favorite thing to do, the more you read (all different types of reading) the easier it is to understand all other subjects. I love helping students find that "just right" book.
I do love to read, to travel-major summer trip was 16 days in Chicago to visit my daughter, who recently moved there. Last summer I spent two weeks in Sweden visiting with the exchange student that stayed with us while attending Scituate High School. The summer before that I spent two weeks in Wales visiting family on my father's side.
This year I am teaching the fifth-grade science program to the three fifth grade classes and social studies to my homeroom students.
It has been wonderful getting to know the students and their families. We're off to a great start.
